VAT Manager

VAT Manager | Chartered Accountancy firm | £45 - £55k + excellent benefits | Edinburgh

SRGEurope have been appointed to recruit a VAT Manager for an award-winning, independent accountancy practice offering a full range of accountancy and business advisory services, including insolvency and financial services in Scotland. Our ideal candidate will be required to build strong and lasting relationships with clients as well as have a working knowledge VAT issues.

The VAT Manager Responsibilities:

• Supporting the growth and development of VAT services
• Providing advice on a wide range of subjects to existing clients and to other professionals within the firm
• Explain complex issues in a way non-VAT experts will understand - dealing directly with non-VAT partners and other technical staff will be a large part of the role
• Ensure a prompt and effective service
• Developing and growing and managing a team
• Manage own workloads

The VAT Manager Requirements:

• 3-5 years' experience in delivering VAT advice in a VAT consultancy practice or within HMRC ideally
• Knowledge of VAT issues such as; VAT registrations, liability of income, recovery of VAT on expenditure, partial exemptions, capital goods scheme, land and property issues, imports and exports and VAT anti-avoidance rules
• Experience of VAT across sectors and a good understanding of VAT principles
• Ability to work with clients, partners and colleagues at all levels
• Good client handling skills
• Must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation for selling services to existing clients of the firm and to non-clients, including taking responsibility for marketing projects
• Experience of developing and growing a team
• Experience of managing client engagements
