Financial Analyst – Oil, Engineering or Construction – Gibraltar  - Salary c£25,000 - £40,000

We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst with a background in Oil, Engineering or Construction to join an established commercial company, which is based in Gibraltar but has an international presence. The Financial Analyst will have a great opportunity to develop their skill set as an integral member of the Accounting team. The Financial Analyst applying must have advanced Excel skills, ideally SQL but not essential and a good team attitude. Qualifications in Accounting are not a pre requisite for this role so it may suit candidates that started them but did not complete them.

The appointed Financial Analyst responsibilities are, but not confined to:

  • Preparation of all Profit and Loss business analytics on a frequent reporting time scale, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually
  • Reconciliation of Bank, Cash and Ledgers including Purchase, Sales and Nominal Ledgers to trial balance level for accounting purposes
  • Profit and Loss analysis, cost centre profitability
  • Assisting the Accountants with any reporting needs on a weekly, monthly, annual basis
  • Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts for Group Companies
  • Stock controls are in place and efficiently working inline with business requirements
  • Reconciliations for the inter-company, liaising with sister companies when needed
  • Posting of all journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Assist Auditors when necessary for quarterly, half and yearly accounts
  • Be in close contact with many teams within the company to add value

The appointed Financial Analyst skill set will be:

  • Part Qualified or Fully qualified AAT, CIMA, ACCA
  • Sound knowledge of Accountancy including double entry book keeping, accruals, prepayments and matching concepts
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot tables, Look up Tables, Macro
  • Candidates with an Oil, Engineering or Construction background or similar would be ideal
  • Knowledge of Sage and/or SAP accounting systems
  • Knowledge of SQL would be ideal but not essential
  • Familiarity with foreign exchange would be an ideal
  • Most important - be able to demonstrate a willingness and an ability to learn
